You don’t need to have an official diagnosis of ADHD to suffer from some of its symptoms— difficulty organizing, procrastination, multiple unfinished projects, distractibility… and more. There are techniques to support these life challenges.

Coaching work, which is different from therapy work, concentrates on achievable, short-term goals.

To coach people with ADHD diagnoses or symptoms, I draw from 3 areas of focus:

1- healthy lifestyle (sleep, exercise, nutrition)
    2- organizing principles time-management skills
3- impulse control & frustration tolerance (mindfulness & attention; not therapy, or emotional regulation, or depth psychology)

My experience includes work with adults and with teens. For coaching clients of all ages with ADHD or some of its symptoms, I suggest that each person seeing me also have some sort of concurrent therapy support. That may be individual therapy or something in a group setting. I’m also comfortable referring out when a person’s needs aren’t being addressed by short-term coaching.
